Digital Preservation Policy
The Revista EDICIC is hosted on the Journals Portal of the Asociación de Educación e Investigación en Ciencia de la Información de Iberoamérica y el Caribe (https://ojs.edicic.org), which ensures the preservation and long-term availability of its digital content. The journal adopts multiple strategies for digital preservation, including daily system backups.
In addition, the Revista EDICIC participates in recognized national and international digital preservation initiatives. The journal is eligible for preservation services provided by the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN), which offers free digital preservation for Open Journal Systems (OJS) journals that meet basic technical requirements.
The Revista EDICIC is also part of the Rede Brasileira de Serviços de Preservação Digital (Rede Cariniana), an initiative of the Instituto Brasileiro de Informação em Ciência e Tecnologia (Ibict). The Cariniana Network integrates the Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe (LOCKSS) program, developed by Stanford University, which is based on a distributed digital preservation model designed to ensure long-term access to scholarly content. The Digital Preservation of Brazilian Electronic Periodicals service was established in 2013 through participation in the LOCKSS Alliance. In September 2015, Rede Cariniana was officially recognized as a Periodical Archiving Agency by The Keepers Registry Initiative. The technical architecture of the Cariniana Network is based on the LOCKSS software, created in 1998 as part of a Stanford University project to support libraries in preserving online publications.
In terms of repository and self-archiving policies, the Revista EDICIC allows authors to deposit versions of their articles in institutional or other repositories of their choice, in accordance with the journal’s open access policy. Authors may self-archive the published version or the accepted manuscript, provided that proper citation to the journal is included. Information regarding the journal’s self-archiving policy is registered in Diadorim, the Brazilian Directory of Editorial Policies on Open Access.
