Abstract

The aim of this study is to map the existence, or not, of archival disciplines in the curricula of Library schools in Brazil, with the purpose of demonstrating the need for theoretical rapprochement between the fields of Archivology and Library Science for the work of information professionals. The hypothesis is that the addition of archival disciplines to undergraduate library science curricula contributes to the training of information professionals in general, ratifying the interdisciplinarity between the aforementioned areas in the context of the field of Information Science, subject to their respective market reserves. Part of the teaching experience in archival subjects in the Library Science and Management of Information Units course at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, since an archivist joined the teaching staff in 2015. Based on the data collected and systematized, we can see that Librarianship is getting closer to the themes that interface with Document Management. We hope to affirm and ratify the importance of Archivology and interdisciplinary relations with Librarianship, through positive interaction and integration in a course whose premise is interdisciplinarity between the areas that underpin Librarianship and Information Unit Management training. The preliminary conclusion is that the application of archival disciplines to the library curriculum has enabled undergraduates to gain a better understanding of the diversity of the application and use of information in organizations, which broadens and consolidates the achievement of corporate objectives through the generation of organizational knowledge.
