Study of graduates in library and information science from the University of São Paulo, Brazil: elements for decision making

Abstract

The objective of the research is to study the professionals in the labor market and map the need for continued education of graduates of the Library and Information Science course of Universidade de São Paulo, Brazil, Ribeirão Preto Campus. Research execution method is descriptive and exploratory with 03 stages: data collection and organization; execution and analysis; discussed two results. Analyze: the professionals carry out post-graduation strictly in various areas, also specialization. There is evidence of a tendency of former students in specializations to enhance competencies and updating in specific areas, for example, sectors that require knowledge about information, management, education, and technology.
