The Library and Information Science in the countries of MERCOSUR has been able to shape and develop a level of integration that aims at building a common academic space between schools and university in the region. The Meetings of Directors and Teachers, who have been taking place since 1996, have been the way that the region has been to build this space. Through a gradual process is aimed at promoting the creation a common identity and a sense of regional belonging, which is reflected in an academic group that seeks to strengthen the development of the discipline by creating a collective consciousness of reference.
